Appropriateness Glossary Home Appropriate health care is care for which the expected health benefit exceeds the expected negative consequences by a wide enough margin to justify treatment. Usually, appropriateness is determined through the use of Clinical Guidelines or Criteria that have been developed specifically for the purpose of determining the appropriateness and medical necessity of the treatment being requested.
